A little sunshine….

In Quilting by Lisa Burnett

Wow. The last time I logged on to write a blog post seems like a century ago. Almost a different lifetime. So much has changed in just a few days. We are right there with you. Struggling. Struggling with anxiety, struggling with concentration, struggling with staying away from each other. Struggling about what to fix for dinner. To be honest, that has been a daily struggle for the last million years. But it seems so much harder when when going out to eat options have been erased.

We are very blessed. Our family has a nice warm home to “shelter in place”. We have plenty of food (even if we can’t locate a sack of flour within 100 miles). We even have toilet paper. For now. We also have the gift of being distracted for a little bit. Our Tagged personal labels are set to be shipped this week, which means we actually get to work.

We design our Tagged designs a few months in advance. For March, we had planned a label with flowers, bright colors and a Spring theme. As I sat down to look at it last week, it just didn’t feel right. We have no idea what you all are doing out there. Are you sewing during this extended time at home? Or does the thought of doing something “normal” not feel right to you? For me, I have trouble concentrating on routine tasks. I’m struggling just sitting down to answer email. I feel like I should be doing something “important”. On the other hand, my mom is sewing like a maniac. She’s whipping things out and coming up with new ideas. It helps that we have a brand new fabric collection she is sewing with. That collection was supposed to be shown at Quilt Market this spring. Emphasis on “was”. No worries. It will get shown and we will get to share everything later.

Back to the label. Not wanting to go with the “planned” design for this month, we set out to design something a little more meaningful. Maybe to inspire a little hope. Because every fiber in my being believes we will get through this. I remembered the phrase “there’s always sunshine after the rain” and wanted to use that on the label. So if you are sewing now, or sewing after this crazy time, you will have a label that inspires hope.

We will be shipping the labels to all our Tagged subscribers tomorrow. They should arrive sometime next week. If you don’t have a subscription and would like this label, click here. You have until Friday to order and receive this month’s design.

We are thinking of you all and very grateful for each and everyone of you who has supported us for so many years. Please stay safe and stay well. God bless you all.
